5 Ways to Boost your Mood

Glutes and Gloss Flowers

Let’s be honest, stress is going to happen! I always hear the words “Don’t Stress,” Well, in a perfect world that would be amazing, but in this thing called life, stress happens. I have found incorporating these 5 things throughout the week allows me to deal with stress more effectively, and has made my life overall much more happier.

Here are 5 top ways to Boost your Mood

1. Make your Bed

I know what you’re thinking – this blog is just ridiculous at this point. How on earth is making my bed going to boost my mood? This is the last thing I want to do with such a busy schedule! Well, we all know the importance of a good night’s rest. Making your bed first thing in the morning sets the course for the entire day. It not only gives you a feeling of accomplishment, but also reduces stress levels. So, Picture this you have had a hard day and  you come home to a perfectly made bed. How would that make you feel? My guess is a sigh of relief. The feeling of having an organized bed will actually reduce your stress level and it will lead to other great habits in your life!

2. Exercise

It sounds so cliche, but it’s been proven. I like to exercise directly after I’ve made my bed. Some people will say ” I don’t have time to exercise,” the truth is you need to MAKE time. If you don’t have your health really you have nothing. Health is Wealth and I say this often! Set your alarm a little bit earlier and watch how great you will feel with a workout under your belt for the day. So if you don’t have time to make it to the gym I have an alternative. I have created a 17 minute workout you do right next to your made bed, first thing in the morning.Girl-on-the-Run-Logo-HI-RESwww.GirlOnRun.com

3. Buy Fresh Flowers

Ohhhh this is my favorite of them all! In fact it’s not the most important of the 5, but it is a total mood changer. Flowers will run you about $5-$10 at your local market. I recommend tulips they last the longest and are gorgeous at full bloom.  I have been doing this for years and if you seen my social media accounts ,I’m sure you have seen some fresh flowers throughout my feed. In fact research has shown that flowers has a positive effect on your mood.

“Common sense tells us that flowers make us happy,” said Dr. Haviland-Jones. “Now, science shows that not only do flowers make us happier than we know, they have strong positive effects on our emotional well being.”

4. Give a Compliment

Yes do this! This is the quickest of the 5 and will really brighten someone’s day as well as your own. The great thing about doing this is it takes the focus off of you. Don’t forget what comes around goes around!

5. Meditate

We all should meditate! I’m proof that is works and boosts your ENTIRE day. I started meditating twice a day for 10 minutes about a month and it has changed my life! I always had the notion I couldn’t meditate because I didn’t do yoga. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The great thing about meditation you can do it anywhere in a quiet space.
