A Perfect TopKnot

You don’t always need to have a perfect blowout to look super chic. In fact, pairing a chunky scarf with a sleek top knot is gorgeous on the eyes. Because our hair sometimes has a mind of its own, a quick and easy top knot can “tame the mane”! Not only that, it can take your look from day to night!

There is a big difference between a put together top knot and a messy bun. A messy bun looks as though you just rolled out of bed. That might be okay for lounging around on Sunday morning but doesn’t work if you are heading out the door! Who knows? This might be the day you meet your future beau!

To create the perfect top knot, here’s what you will need:

Brush- I prefer The Wet Brush, it is gentle on the hair and won’t cause breakage.

Bobby pins- I use about 4-5 to complete the look.

Flexible Hairspray- My go-to is dry bar Money Maker Flexible Hold; it works, and it makes my hair smell amazing!

Step 1

Carefully sleek your hair into a ponytail. Make sure your hair is brushed out thoroughly before you place into a pony. The higher the ponytail, the higher the topknot.

Step 2

Section the ponytail into two and move tails towards the forehead and crossover. See photo for further details

Step 3

Move the hair towards the back of the hair making sure to keep the two tails separated. Depending on the length of your hair, continue with Step 2 & 3 until you have about half of an inch remaining.

Step 4

Grab 2-4 Bobby pins to place the two tails into place. Once the hair is secure, take the flexible spray and seal the entire look.
